The Department of Orthopedic and Plastic Surgery at Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine combines the strengths of two dynamic specialties through extensive collaboration. Our program offers comprehensive education and research opportunities, featuring a state-of-the-art cadaver lab and robust clinical rotations at Miami Valley Hospital and Dayton Children's Medical Center. 

About the Department

Welcome to the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine Department of Orthopedic and Plastic Surgery. The individual sections of Orthopedic and Plastic Surgery are combined based on a long-standing clinical and academic collaboration between the two specialties at our institution. Each section has its own distinct leadership and curriculum, but we also collaborate on research, education, and clinical rotations to maximize resource utilization. the Plastic Surgery section is under the leadership of Dr. R. Michael Johnson, M.D.,  M.P.H. Thank you for your interest in the Wright State Plastic Surgery integrated residency program at the Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. We invite you to explore the many facets of our program. Our program seeks to provide a wellrounded plastic surgery educational experience in both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery by taking full advantage of outstanding full and part time faculty members in the Dayton area, primarily rotating at Miami Valley Hospital and Dayton Children’s Hospital. Our program is unique in offering access to a fully functional, robust, year-round cadaver research lab supported by the Wright State Anatomic Gift Program, annually hosting a variety of visiting surgeons utilizing our lab to display prosthetic devices and teach advanced surgical technique and approach. We also promote and strongly encourage investment in both basic science and clinical research, with many opportunities to produce and present at national meetings across the nation.
