About the Program
Healthy communities require skilled public health leaders. Public health leaders must understand the broad range of factors that influence population-level health and be skilled in the areas of data-based decision-making, program management, and leading teams and building consensus.
The Boonshoft Public Health Workforce Scholarship program aims to train the next generation of public health leaders by providing scholarships equal to 50 percent of the in-state graduate tuition.
"I attended my undergraduate classes over 15 years ago. Technology has changed as well as many other areas. Instructors have been helpful with navigating new technology and explaining assignments. Having a full-time job and going to school has been a challenge, but these classes are designed so both can be accomplished.
Wright State is close to home, affordable, and the class size is perfect. Not only is the MPH program accredited, but classes are designed for the working individual with both in-person and online opportunities. Class instructors are knowledgeable and have ties to the community I live in.
If you work in public health, this degree will open your eyes to more than just your department. It shows you what is happening down the hall and across town. I wanted to understand more than just what I was seeing on a day-to-day basis. When you see how all the pieces fit together that is when you begin to understand public health."
Andrew Evans, Fall 2022 Cohort PHWFS M.P.H. Student
"My only regret since returning to school is not having done so sooner. My cohort is an exceptional blend of public health professionals. In addition, my professors and coursework have reignited a desire to expand my knowledge in the field of public health.
The Boonshoft School of Medicine Public Health Workforce Scholarship has been a tremendous benefit. This scholarship's impact is not solely financial but mentally reassuring—a reassurance provided by those who contribute to the future of public health professionals' education because they believe in us. Collectively, we will continue to promote and protect public health."
Jeniece Lyons, Fall 2022 Cohort PHWFS M.P.H. student
