Why Choose Public Health?
The Bachelor of Arts in Public Health is an interdisciplinary degree designed for students interested in careers of public health education and advocacy. The degree also prepares students to pursue a graduate degree in public health. Graduates of the BA program are eligible to take the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES ®) exam.
The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences works collaboratively with the College of Liberal Arts to provide coursework in public health foundations, communication and analytical skills, and public policy. In addition, collaborations with local public health agencies and healthcare organizations provide students with numerous opportunities to engage with local public health professionals. All students complete a capstone project that demonstrates the culmination of career-focused skills.

Admission
Students must apply for admission to Wright State University.
Entrance Requirements
Requirements for direct admission into the Public Health degree program are in alignment with the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences criteria, including: a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher, an ACT Math score minimum of 22 or 520 on the SAT, and an ACT English score minimum of 23 or 530 on the SAT.
Students who intend to enter into the Public Health degree program but do not meet the criteria to be directly admitted will be admitted as a PRE major. Once the student has satisfied the following criteria, they can be admitted into the Public Health degree program: completed at least 12 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25.
Declaring Your Major
Students who intend to enter into the Bachelor of Arts in Public Health program but do not meet the criteria to be directly admitted from high school will be admitted as a PRE major. Once the student has satisfied the following criteria, they can be admitted into the Bachelor of Arts in Public Health degree program:
- Completion of at least 15 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25.
Current students at Wright State University who are interested in adding or changing their major can also be admitted into the Bachelor of Arts in Public Health degree program by meeting the above criteria.
Articulation (Transfer) Agreements
