  1. Applicants must have passed all three USMLE steps or COMLEX levels.
  2. Applicants must have at least 24 months of general psychiatry residency training inside the United States. Preference is shown to applicants who have at least 36 months of general psychiatry residency training inside the United States.
  3. Applicants must possess sufficient command of English to permit accurate and unimpeded communication.
  4. Applicants must be eligible for a physician training license as granted by the Ohio Medical Board and pass all appropriate background checks in order to work with children.
  5. At least two of your three letters of recommendation should come from psychiatrists, preferably ones working within the United States. You must submit a letter of recommendation from the general psychiatry program director including the Program Directors Verification Form Attesting to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Eligibility Form.
  6. The employing institution will sponsor J-1 Visas.
  7. Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine recognizes that residents are trainees, not employees. As such, applicants must be able to meet conditions of the institutional house-officer (resident) training agreement.
  8. Applicants from medical school outside of the United States must be Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate eligible to be considered for an interview.
  9. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply prior to Sept. 1. The deadline to apply is Nov. 30 to participate in the NRMP Fellowship Match.

Our program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and applications may be made online. All applications are reviewed by the Residency Selection Committee. Qualified applicants are invited for interviews with faculty, and are afforded the opportunity to visit the department’s clinical facilities and to spend time with current residents.

Interview Process

The CAP Selection Committee will review your application, and we will notify you if you have been selected to interview.  Interviews will be scheduled Tuesdays and Fridays during October and November.
