Wright State University and Premier Health Clinical Trials Research Alliance
The Wright State University and Premier Health Clinical Trials Research Alliance (CTRA) conducts clinical trials throughout Southwest Ohio in a variety of healthcare areas. The goal of clinical trials is to show if new medical treatments work and are safe. Better treatments can improve patients’ lives and bring hope to people throughout the world.
The CTRA is a public-private initiative combining two of Dayton’s most trusted organizations: Wright State University and Premier Health.

- To the alliance, Premier Health adds the clinical resources of one of the region’s leading healthcare systems, including more than 100 locations throughout Southwest Ohio.
The CTRA also collaborates with regional healthcare organizations and community physicians.
Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine
Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine is located in Dayton, Ohio, and serves the Miami Valley region of Southwest Ohio. Wright State is affiliated with seven major teaching hospitals in the Greater Dayton area and has formal affiliation agreements with more than 25 other healthcare institutions in the Miami Valley. This model exposes medical students and resident physicians to a diverse range of patients and health care facilities.
The school’s academic departments include basic science departments located on the Wright State University campus and clinical departments based throughout the community. Wright State’s clinical faculty teach and provide medical care for almost half a million patient visits annually. In addition to almost 400 full-time faculty, Wright State’s voluntary faculty include more than 1,200 physicians in private practice and other health care professionals in the community.
The Boonshoft School of Medicine is a national leader in generalist medicine, community service and the diversity of its student body. Research programs include nationally recognized centers of excellence in genomics, toxicology, neuroscience, substance abuse and treatment, and human growth and development.
Premier Health
With more than 100 locations throughout Southwestern Ohio, Premier Health offers industry-leading care. At its hospitals, patients receive preventive services, diagnostic testing, treatment, and follow-up care using the most recent medical advances and the latest technology. Premier’s outpatient surgery centers perform advanced surgical procedures using technologically advanced medical equipment. The company’s health centers offer primary care doctors, specialists, and diagnostic services in a convenient, single-location.
With 40 primary care and after-hours locations across Southwestern Ohio, Premier Health’s network is made up of more than 130 doctors providing cost-effective, family-centered care.
Premier Health offers access to the largest group of specialty care practices in Southwestern Ohio, including cardiology, neurosurgery, and orthopedics.
