Message from the Chair
In 2010, Wright State University and Premier Health announced the creation of the Wright State University / Premier Health Clinical Neuroscience Institute (CNSI), a unique public-private partnership uniting the clinical talents found in the academically affiliated Premier hospitals with the strengths in biomedical neuroscience research and teaching of Wright State. The CNSI has grown over the years and is now a multi-location, patient-centered training ground with a focus on academics and teaching. Our board-certified specialists in neurology, neurosurgery, neurocritical care, neurointerventional, and neuropsychology are committed to clinical teaching, clinical and translational research, and participating in basic neuroscience investigations. These collaborations include partnering with NIH-funded neuroscientists and engineers on the Wright State University campus, as well as leveraging our relationships with Dayton Children’s Hospital, the Dayton Veterans Affairs Hospital, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Our skilled team of providers takes a multi-disciplinary approach that allows us to deliver comprehensive inpatient and outpatient neurological care and support. The Clinical Neuroscience Institute utilizes advanced technologies to successfully treat emergent conditions such as stroke, head and spine trauma, brain tumors, brain aneurysms, epilepsy, headaches, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, neuromuscular disorders, and many more.
Our patients include community residents from all walks of life, with a focus on the underserved, as well as populations of active-duty military and veterans. All receive thorough, research-proven, comprehensive care using the latest in technology and telehealth. Scholarly activity is encouraged and results in numerous publications in nationally recognized journals, presentations at national conferences, and scholarships, which underscore our commitment to leading in the neurosciences. We offer a resident research track to those residents expressing interest.
Our program prepares residents for future practice in any clinical setting. From rural medicine to global practice abroad, to subspecialty care, to academic medicine, past graduates have pursued a wide range of career paths after completion of our training programs. The departmental faculty and I invite you to explore the opportunities here and encourage you to consider joining our amazing team.
